Back-to-school season is the perfect time to reclaim your kids’ spaces. Whether you're dealing with overflowing toy bins, mystery craft supplies, or a bedroom that’s more “tornado” than “tidy,” we’re here to help with Livable Solutions.

This month, dedicate a little time each week to simplify these common clutter zones:

Toy Storage

Try a cube shelf system with labeled bins or baskets. It’s low to the ground, easy for kids to access, and can grow with them. Keep only the toys they love and rotate the rest.

Crafts & Games

Use zippered pouches or mesh bags for puzzles and games to reduce bulky boxes. Stack them in a labeled bin or basket. For art supplies, a rolling cart or divided caddy keeps materials organized and portable.

Artwork & Keepsake Papers

Display current artwork in changeable wall frames that open like a book — no nails or tape needed every time. For long-term storage, use 12x12 plastic snap-close containers to hold each child’s creations by year or age.

Kids’ Bedrooms

Start with a clean-out of clothes that don’t fit or toys that don’t belong in the room. Use under-bed bins for off-season clothes, labeled bins for favorite items, and give everything a home your child can reach.

August Declutter Challenge

Get the kids involved and pick one area each week to focus on:

Week 1: Toys – Sort, donate, rotate, and label.

Week 2: Crafts & Games – Contain the chaos with zip bags, bins, and carts.

Week 3: Artwork & Keepsakes – Hang a few, store the rest in sturdy clear bins.

Week 4: Bedrooms – Clear surfaces and floors, use simple storage systems that kids can maintain.

Community Connection

This month we’re highlighting a cause close to our hearts, The Foster Closet at Innovation. They provide clothing and essential supplies to foster families in our area, completely free. If you’re looking for a place to donate gently used kids’ items, this is a wonderful organization to support.
